Wabi-Sabi and Kintsugi

Wabi -Sabi is a Japanese concept of finding beauty in imperfection and accepting natural cycle of growth and decay. Celebrating cracks, cervices, marks that time, weather and love leave behind. It includes belief that nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect. The key is there are certain things in life over which we have no control. Shift focus from pursuit of perfection.

Kintsugi is connected to the idea of Wabi-Sabi. It is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with lacquer and gold powder. Silver and platinum are also used for repairing sometimes. The broken pottery piece is not discarded. It is revived and is more beautiful than before. The cracks are not hidden instead highlighted. The philosophy behind kintsugi is to embrace flaws and imperfections in yourself and others in life. Appreciate them as part of your own unique life story. Learn from the past and look for opportunities of growth in life.
