What to do if you are falsely accused at work





Accusations, bullying, rumors and unjust character remarks are common at workplace. There are high chances someone may do this to take advantage and destroy career of good employees. False allegations at work can cause emotional stress, damage reputation and hinder future growth prospects. There are ways to handle allegations, if you are falsely accused.

1. Keep your calm. Do not panic.
2. Gather evidence against that person.
3. Check company policy handbook.
4. Escalate to Human Resource department (HR).
5. Consult your legal consultant.
6. Do not be alone with that person. Always ask someone to accompany.
7. Always keep evidence gathered to substantiate.
8. If such instances occur repeatedly, change your career path or take someone’s help.
